Goodbye Christopher Robin

"A person should do the things the person loves, with the people a person loves. Because you never know what happens next."

Olive(Nou)

Last year I went to the cinema with a group of students to watch Christopher Robin. I love the movie so much. It brings joy and very meaningful story. I grew up when everyone around me love Pooh and his friends. I have heard about Goodbye Christopher Robin but never got a chance to go and watch it.
.

.
.
Astro just started showing the movie, and I didn't expect much when I sit to watch it.
.
This is a movie from 2017. Based on a true story, a memoir.
.
I ended up in tear.
Even my mum kind of stay with me to watch the movie though she rarely watch TV. However she didn't stay until the end because it was a late night movie.  The next day she even asked me about the ending.
.
.
The story and the character that brings joy and remind everyone about happiness actually come from a writer suffering PTSD, the joy of playing with his only son, that later turn out to be his greatest scars for life.
.

.
From a father who awkwardly love his son, learn to play and upon a request from his son to write him a book. A. A. Milne, using his son as the inspiration for the character. .

.
The character turn out to be one of the most well known character in the world.
.
Slowly the fame broke the son little heart.
.
.
Sometimes, I hope that the father, can sit down and listen to his son.
.
.
A father is one of the most difficult person to understand. You don't know how to show your love to him and you will never figure out how he feel.
.
But a father always means well to you. It just that, father has a unique way to show you his love.
.
Pooh, Billy Moon, Daddy

.
His silent, his awkward hug. But he will always love you.
.
.
The saddest moment in the story when his father sent him to the boarding school, he got bullied throughout his adolescent.
.
.
Being famous hurt him the most. Popularity never means well.
.
He carried the scars and never accepted that he is Christopher Robin. To him he is only Billy Moon.
.
He told his father that he asked him to write a story for him not a story about him.
.

.
"Alice to millions, but Nou to me"....
.
He wrote that in his memoir. I can see how much he hated the fact that his personal story being commercialize.
.
Christopher Robin and Pooh

But nowadays, everyone is craving for that popularity. People don't value their privacy anymore.
.
How memory no longer something that you treasure alone but something that you put on display.
.
.
To Christopher Robin, his popularity hurt him, broke his relationship.
.
Until the end of his life, he never took the royalties from the story.
.
This is a reminder that, like all of us, children experience complex emotions that they don't always know how to voice.
.
And nothing is more crucial to a child’s development than feeling secure in the love of his family.
.
What make it more sad, it's the fact his mother afraid to love the boy.
She expected to have a girl but it was a boy.
She didn't want to love him for the fear of losing him.
A grown up man will be sent out to the war.
She tasted the lost once when her husband went to the war.
.
But loving a person will make you a better person.
Choosing not to love, it is just like to hate.
So sad.
.
Next I need to buy and read his memoir. A very beautiful story.
