Singapore BFF Trip
For the past two months, I had to say that my working life definitely demanded the best of me to complete all sort of task
At some point, I can feel that even my thinking ability doesn't function well. I don't even dare to put any plan about my life. I barely read my reading list.
Shafiyah and Rhodiyah have been mentioning about going on a trip together. But all of us know that our demanding life not going to allow us to have a solid backpacking plan. More likely, the way we promise each other is; whatever will be, will be... Insha’Allah.
We have been mentioning Singapore for the past two months, but no one said anything about confirming the trip, not until 1 week before the date that we supposed to go.
The moment I ask in our group; are we going next week?
Everyone immediately reply that they have been wanting to ask the same thing for quite sometimes already, but life caught us up. Basically, we complete all our booking exactly 4 days before our departure. Alhamdulillah, everything went so well.
The funny thing is, we actually bought our ticket to return home first, then the USS pass, then the hostel before actually buying the ticket to Singapore.
We came separately, even came home separately.
But those the two days were definitely one of the best things ever happened in so far in my life.
(Exclude those crazy years in our campus life)
The perk of staying single for this long after graduation is we can actually go on this kind of trip.
First day:
I came directly from Terengganu to JB, and Sha came from KL and Rhody actually already there because she's attending her friend's wedding. We agree to meet in Larkin because we thought that we can take a bus directly from Larkin to SG but unfortunately we can only take the bus in JB Central.
This prove of our lack preparation for this trip... hehehe (kind of aci redah je) But at the same time, this is how Allah plan for us to actually have the opportunity to meet Kak Zahidah and her new-born; Mulia. Alhamdulillah. Her parents actually help to send us to JB Central. Alhamdulillah.
SHA AND HER BUS
CHANGI AIRPORT
Masjid Kampung Siglap
During the congregational Maghrib prayer, the Imam RECITE the verse from Surah Al-Hijr verse 16-21
And We have placed within the heaven great stars and have beautified it for the observers. And We have protected it from every devil expelled [from the mercy of Allah ] Except one who steals a hearing and is pursued by a clear burning flame. And the earth - We have spread it and cast therein firmly set mountains and caused to grow therein [something] of every well-balanced thing. And We have made for you therein means of living and [for] those for whom you are not providers. And there is not a thing but that with Us are its depositories, and We do not send it down except according to a known measure.

JB CENTRAL TO SENTOSA
In JB Central, you can take the bus to Sentosa directly
which cost us RM 7 per person and at the Woodland Immigration, to get our
passport stamp it took us about 30-40 minutes. When we go down, the bus already
left us. When we ask around, we have to wait for another bus from the same
company to come and pick us up. But since we quite in rush, we took another bus
and we have to pay again about RM 5 per person. I didn't get enough sleep last
night because it took me about 9 hours from Terengganu to JB. So the moment we
enter the bus, I fell asleep right away until we arrived in Sentosa.
Our main destination today is Universal Studio Singapore and to play as much as possible since the pass cost us quite a lot. hehehe. I have to say that the best ride is the Transformer and also the CYCLONE roller-coaster. It is a great experience to act like a kid where no one even care to judge. hehehe.
NIGHT LIFE IN MARINA BAY
We had our dinner at Harbour Front Station. Our first proper
meal of the day was at Encik Tan restaurant.
We decide to go directly to Marina Bay without stopping by
at our hostel first. The night life in SG, I have to admit that the view is
amazing but deep down, I know something is missing. Plus I am just too tired...
But still able to enjoy the night well even though the target to reach Garden
by The Bay was not accomplished because I don't have any energy to walk any
further... I ADMIT THE DEFEAT.
(This is the reality of backpacking)
RANGGOON 99 HOSTEL.
After walking around the bay and enjoying the night view, we
were so tired and our body are screaming for rest already. Alhamdulillah it was
not so hard to find the hostel and the room is very comfortable.
DAY 2 : TIONG BHARU AND BUGIS
We don't really have the itinerary on how to spend our day,
so I suggest for us to go to Tiong Bharu to find one of hidden independent book
store in SG which I have been eyeing on it in few blogs.
THE BOOK ACTUALLY.Lucky it wasn't too hard to find to. And I'm in love with
it. Totally. All the titles are amazing and I am crazy to have it. But since
I'm short on budget and I can only pick one, I choose to buy the book that the
store published in 2016. The book was a collection of short story from
different writer. I think this is one of the best ways for me to find my new favourite
writer.
ZAMZAM RESTAURANT and MASJID SULTAN
Today we are able to have our proper meal earlier than
yesterday. We are having a brunch at the famous murtabak and beriani
restaurant. We actually order 1 meal each, and the portion definitely big
enough TO FEED MORE people, and we actually struggle to finish the meal even
the meal was amazing.
We decide to perform our Zuhr prayer in the mosque, before walking
around Bugis and Arab Street.
We decide to go to WARDAH BOOKSTORE that we thought was quite far from the mosque, but it located
right in front of the mosque and lucky enough we didn't miss it. There goes my
budget again. I know that majority of my money always goes to books.
The moment we walk at Tiong Bharu, she keeps on asking why we
don’t ride a bus. Even Rhody tease her that she should call the bus to pick us
up. I know because it was hot and since we have the day tourist pass, we should
use it well to make it worth it.
After Haji Lane, we decided to take a bus. Wherever it lead us,
which are how random we are. The first bus that arrive there was bus no.48 and
we took it. Just inside the bus, we study the pamphlet and decide to stop at
the nearest mrt station which was Tanah Merah Mrt Station.
Rhody was going to return to Penang by airplane and Sha and
I were going home by bus. We decide to go and look how extravagance is the
"famous Changi Airport". And it was huge.
Masjid Kampung Siglap
On our random bus tour, we saw this one beautiful mosque on
our way. All of us were not ready to depart yet. So we think we should go back
to the mosque and pray there before we depart on our separate way. We took the
same bus and stop near by the mosque. The mosque has a beautiful traditional
wooden Malay house design. I think that is one of our best decisions of the
day, to go back and pray at the mosque.
Then I know what my heart is longing for. Alhamdulillah.
p/s: the Maghrib talk was about nikah. We keep on laughing
to each other’s because we mentioned during our beginning of the trip that we
come to find our prince charming here in SG. ehehehe.
TIME TO GO HOME
The fact that we are not ready for; that our real life is
actually waiting for us. Coming home to reality, coming home to our
responsibility, coming home to the fact this vacation is over.
We bid our goodbyes. Rhody was going back through Changi and
Sha and I went to Lavender Mrt to wait for our bus to Terengganu. (Another
funny part of our short trip.)
Alhamdulillah. It was short but
definitely a great time.
Our trip is not our form of escapism but it simply the way we take a short break and find our strength again to face what reality have for us in the future. I always believe that travelling is one of the best way to heal and find your lost soul. Enjoy the simple things to see the grandeur effect.
Always try to look at the bright side to see what Allah want to teach us in this life.
InsyaAllah.
p/s: our inside joke of the day definitely "the tudung lilit".
